A while back I did a post about folk artist Herman Thompson who lives in SC. Herman does not sell his work and I have wanted a piece for years. I was thrilled to see him again recently at the SC State Museum and even more thrilled when he gave me a piece of his work. Here you also see an armadillo Herman was working on that day, it is made from stove pipe and an old rake. Audrey is here with a giant 10 foot metal snake. In the bottom photo Herman signs his work, a great green fish that now hangs on my wall. I was so excited that day! The State Museum has several large pieces Herman made, one is an old shack with folks cooking a pig over an open fire. Herman is a master and a treasure.
